| How to get copies of your credit reports |
In Canada we have the right to get our credit reports for free as often as we want, directly from the credit bureaus. To get your free credit reports simply go to the credit bureau web sites and download the consumer application and mail it in with copies of your identification.
In addition to simply getting your free credit report, TransUnion offers a new credit monitoring program that helps to protect you from identity theft by notifying you of changes to your credit report as they happen. This program is not free, but it is a great program because you are informed of potential problems immediately. The sooner you find out that someone is trying to steal your identity, the sooner you can stop it.
